About Red Barn Plants... In the early 1980's Elke and I, Ken Knechtel, started collecting perennials, annuals, shrubs and trees from some of the neatest nurseries you could ever imagine. Puget Garden Resources, Blooms of Bressingham (the original), Lohbrunner, Alpenflora are but a few which come to mind.
Like all things, change comes. 2004 saw the closing of our mail order services and 2005 saw The Perennial Gardens close it's retail side and turn to supplying interesting plants to Garden Centers. We welcome you to search out the plants of Red Barn Plants close to your home. |
In the 80's and
90's our nursery called Rainforest Gardens grew and developed into The
Perennial Gardens Inc.. We offered mail order across North America and
retail walk in sales at our 3 acre nursery with display gardens. Elkes'
amazing drive at collecting and documenting plants added a huge wealth to our catalogue
and our own knowledge base.
